An A5 OTA-bound (lay-flat) notebook composed of carbon-neutral post-consumer recycled paper and natural paste dyed board. All carbon emissions released in the production of its papers are offset.
The cover of this notebook is coloured a stylish soft grey. The pages are made from 90-gsm FSC-certified, acid and chlorine-free carbon-neutral recycled paper (white). The notebook also contains a handy contact information page and header sections.

At Port West Stationers it is our endeavour to deliver notebooks at their finest and most thoughtful of people and the planet. We value pen to paper thinking and design to enhance and encourage it, responsibly. This means working with a stringent fixation on quality and sustainability. We use 1OO% FSC-recycled COâ‚‚ neutral paper alongside other ethically created recyclable materials. Our books are made in the UK in support of local craft and to help keep our carbon footprint low. We currently have two notebooks on offer. Our debut A5 01 journals, and our newly released, A5 02 Vegan range.
We are an architect and designer in London working with bookbinders and suppliers across the UK. Together we deliver paper goods crafted with thought for people and the planet. We champion local production and the use of sustainable materials and processes. Our debut product is the A5 01 notebook. Released in September 2019, A5 01 was a passion project borne from an interest in the provenance and sustainability of paper products within the creative industries.
Our books are made with the help of the talented, Kent based, bookbinding team at Noted In Style. We first approached them in 2017 looking to have some notebooks branded for our architectural studio. After a few early conversations, and a eureka moment, we decided to make one from scratch instead. Many more hours of dialogue and several prototypes later A5 01 took its shape. All our notebooks are manufactured in the UK. We source the recycled papers and boards from British and Italian mills. Our books are a representation of the design values we hold important. These include Function (durable materials, lay-flat design, practical features and guides), Beauty and Form (timeless aesthetics, subtlety, emotion and identity) and Sustainability (recycled materials, low-carbon footprints, transparent and accountable production and local manufacturing).
Port West Stationers was co-founded by Khalifa Abubakar and Shaun Ihejetoh. It is the result of their appreciation of well-made stationery and desire to make creative practice more sustainable. The partners met as architectural students in Scotland. They run Port West Stationers and their architectural practice, West Port Architects, from their studio in London. The name Port West is a simple play on West Port, the location of their architectural workshops as students in Edinburgh. Khalifa & Shaun
